We Are Here! Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellowship

Organized by the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art of Indianapolis, Indiana, the exhibition includes work by Fellowship recipients Bonnie Devine (Ojibwa), Skawennati (Mohawk), Duane Slick (Meskwaki/Ho-Chunk), Anna Tsouhlarakis (Navajo/Creek/Greek), and invited artist Alan Michelson (Mohawk). With painting, photography, installation art, video and sculpture, the exhibition provides insight to the issues, concerns and methods of leading Native artists working today.

Join us for a discussion with the artists Alan Michelson, Bonnie Devine, Skawennati, Duane Slick and Anna Tsouhlarakis, whose work pushes the boundaries of contemporary Native art, moderated by NMAI Curator Kathleen Ash-Milby.

Changing Hands CONNECTIONS: We Are Here

This one-day program explores contemporary art from an indigenous perspective—aesthetics, ideas, contexts and contrasts—with leading artists, curators, and critical thinkers. Work by artists featured in We Are Here! Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellowship and Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation, Part 3, the final exhibition in the groundbreaking series surveying cutting edge contemporary Native art, organized by the Museum of Arts and Design, will serve as the launching point for this continuing discourse.
