Living Voices /Voces Vivas
Living Voices /Voces Vivas is an audio series in English and Spanish
featuring profiles of Native Americans and Native Hawaiians today.
People of many ages, traditions and perspectives tell their own stories,
reflecting the wide range of contemporary Native experience in Canada,
Mexico, Panama, and the US. Living Voices consists of 40 profiles
in English. Voces Vivas, available on a separate CD, consists of 10
profiles in Spanish. The production of the series was a major creative
collaboration involving more than 100 participants who contributed
their considerable skills to conduct interviews, tell their stories,
and edit hundreds of hours of audiotape to give Living Voices and
Voces Vivas their final shape. We are profoundly grateful to all the
Native people featured for inspiring us with their stories, and to
all the others who contributed their time and talents so that this
series could truly be brought to life.
