Anthony Socci

Anthony Socci is a Senior Science and Communications Fellow in the executive office of the American Meteorological Society in Washington, D.C., focusing on improving the communication of science and elevating the importance of communication in the sciences. Dr. Socci hosts a monthly public series of environmental sciences briefings on Capitol Hill, and co-hosts a series of workshops on science and the mass media to improve the communication and reporting of science. He has also served as Senior Climate Science Advisor with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Atmospheric Programs, and as Associate Executive Director of the multi-agency U.S. Global Change Research Program's Coordination Office, where he was involved in coordinating the U.S. investment in scientific research on issues related to climate and the environment. Dr. Socci was formerly Special Assistant to the Director of the Division of Environmental Biology at the National Science Foundation, and Senior Science Advisor for the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Science, Technology, and Space, where he organized Congressional hearings on the science and implications of global climate change.
